Girl at DeskWhat to do if you need help – talk to someone you trust or ring Children’s Safeguarding Service on 01925 444239 who will treat what you say to them as confidential unless what you tell them indicates that a child or young person is at risk of harm. Children’s social care has to do something to protect the young person they can not keep it secret, but they will tell you if this is the case.

Who to ask for help and advice – Your teacher, school nurse, social worker, connexions personal advisor, youth worker, GP, relative, friend or anyone you trust will offer you help, they will know what to do. You can always contact Children’s Safeguarding Service on 01925 444239 or the NSPCC at the Peace Centre on 01925 581200 or help-sites such as www.childline.org.uk, www.nch.org.uk  or www.youth2youth.co.uk  (all you need to do is click on the web address). For more links see the local contacts page. If necessary they can always ring you if you don’t have a phone or money to make a call. Don’t try to cope on your own when there is help around.
